• Encourages team members to share best ideas and practices and to help each other

• Continuously & quickly shares relevant information

Customer Service: Customer Service orientation is focusing one's efforts on discovering and meeting the customer's needs. This includes being able to develop trust in all relationships. Customers include, but are not limited to internal and external associates, peers, colleagues, community members, external agencies or anyone that the person is trying to help.

Some of the observable behaviors that exemplify the competency:
• Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems: gives responses to customer’s questions and follows-up on their inquiries, requests and complaints in a timely manner.
• Maintains clear communication: keeps customers up-to-date about progress on projects and monitors satisfaction; follows through on o questions, requests and complaints.
• Displays a positive and professional image to the customer at all times; maintains composure in difficult situations.
• Corrects customer service problems promptly and undefensively.
• Addresses a customer’s underlying needs by seeking information from the customer.

Innovation: Innovation is an effort to improve performance by doing new things. It can include the introduction of an innovative procedure unknown in the work unit or in the organization (but known elsewhere). It can also include the invention of techniques or methods.

Some of the observable behaviors that exemplify the competency:
• Does things new to the job or work unit
• Does things new to the organization: improves performance by doing something new and different
• Does things that are unique or leading-edge; Does things that transform an industry or a sector of activities.

Strategic Thinking: Develops strategies consistent with organizational strategies; Determines objectives and sets priorities; Anticipates potential threats or opportunities; The ability to analyze the organization's competitive position by considering market and industry trends as well as existing and potential customers and strengths and weaknesses as compared to competitors.

Some of the observable behaviors that exemplify the competency:
• Offers suggestions and proposals taking into consideration the organization’s strengths and deficiencies
• Ideas proposed are well thought out and based on environmental realities as opposed to impulsive responses to immediate problems
• Develops and implements short and long range strategies which are aligned with corporate goals

Teamwork: The ability to work cooperatively with others in the accomplishment of joint tasks and common objectives. Involves understanding team dynamics, fostering collaboration, providing a tangible contribution and listening and responding to the input of others in a manner that creates an environment of mutual trust and respect.

Some of the observable behaviors that exemplify the competency:
• Willingly contributes work and effort to achieve group success
• Participates actively in team decision making
• Solicits the input of others in an effort to learn something new; understands and appreciates the varying perspectives; is a good listener
• Actively builds on the feedback of others
• Works through differences of opinion with others in an objective and constructive manner in order to achieve a reasonable compromise; maintains composure when dealing with difficult people
• Works well with other team members and does not contribute to unproductive group conflict.
